Holiday Makeup Collections are Arriving!

holiday makeup

Hello Beauties,

I was walking through the department stores the other day and I could not control my excitement as I saw them putting out their holiday makeup collections! This excites me more than you know because the cosmetic brands come out with the most beautiful collections of the year…in my humble opinion.

The timing of the holiday makeup collections is perfect because soon the holiday party announcements will be appearing in your mailbox and your Inbox, and not only should you be considering which outfits you should wear, you should also consider which makeup looks you will wear to compliment those outfits. Yes, the outfits are vitally important, but so is the makeup. It ties everything together (visually).

Often times, the collections are packaged together in palettes which not only make for a good value, but are already color selected. If you don’t know how to color match cosmetics, they’ve already taken the guesswork out of it for you.

I am so pleased with what I’ve seen thus far with this year’s collections and I couldn’t wait to share them with you. They are still coming in to the department stores, but here are a few of my favorites thus far:

  • Divine Night Holiday Colour Collection by MAC.
  • Laura Mercier Holiday 2013 Holiday 2013 White Magic Collection – currently available at Laura Mercier counters and coming soon to the Laura Mercier web site. This collection is packed with colors that will give you “fresh and luminous looks, with light-diffused pastels for eyes and brilliant high-shine colours for lips.”
  • Giorgio Armani Holiday 2013 Eccentrico Collection – currently available at Giorgio Armani counters and coming in November to the Giorgio Armani web site. This collection is comprised of the most beautiful sheer palette blush I’ve ever seen, electric nail lacquers, and colorful maestro lip colors.

Here are a few of my favorite products that will give you beautiful party makeup looks and you can purchase them from your favorite drug store or cosmetic store:

So, whether you are going to a company holiday party, a family gathering or a night on the town over the holidays, with any of these suggestions, you will be ready for the occassion. The holidays are the perfect time to “put your best face forward!”

If you try any of these suggestions, please leave a comment and a picture.

Budget Fashion!

FabHey Socialites! One of the biggest questions I get when it comes to styling for someone, or helping them pick out an outfit is “How much is the whole outfit?”. It’s true, many often ask that question in hopes of not getting that sticker shock that sends your eyes twitching like a mad lady! But alas, as Socialites, we know we can budget fashion and still look fab! My challenge total was $100 and here is just one of many options I came up with.

So first, I decided to get a hold of a little black dress! They can take you so many places in the vast world of versatility! This one is by Dorothy Perkins (purchase here) and it’s skater style will have you right on trend for this fall. And it runs $29, but for your first purchase you get 15% off. Of course, as I think with any little black dress, an amazing bag should be well in tow. This one is from H&M (purchase here) and it has a gorgeous cognac color that is well worth the $25. I love flats in the fall! They pair well with opaque tights and these babies from Old Navy are just perfect with the dress(purchase here)! Did I mention they’re only $21.55 and they occasionally run coupon codes on their website?! The other thing I’m into right now are hats, especially brimmed ones! This one is by Forever21 (purchase here) and ran us $16.80. Worth it for the coming cool winter days. Also from Forever21 we snagged these earrings and this lovely, geo print scarf. The earrings are $3.80 (purchase here) and the scarf is $9.80 (purchase here), rounding out our total to $2 over.

So mavens of the fashion world, you can look amazing when you do budget fashion and still look like a million bucks! And best of all, these pieces may very well be in your own closet, so get diggin and save those pennies!

Until next time…happy findings!

Chalkboard Memo DIY

Are you the type who loves the idea of DIY projects, but when it comes down to it, you never actually do them because they tend to be complicated? Do you have a Pinterest board dedicated to DIY projects that you will get around to? Well, this easy DIY is so simple and clever.

2006-01-30 17.54.58The chalkboard memo board. I love doing this and it’s pretty easy to go overboard with it. That’s okay, because you can always give them away as gifts.

You’ll need: chalkboard contact paper, picture frame, scissors and chalk.

Remove the glass from the frame and wipe off any dust or debris to avoid air pockets, cut the contact paper to size, peel and stick.

2006-01-30 17.51.12Put your chalkboard into the frame and start writing to your heart’s content. What do you think? Will you make this? Let us know in the comments.

Socialite Style

1

Hey Socialites! This one is for you! Well every Fashion Find is for you, but… this one is dedicated to Sophistication. You see in times past (and I mean way before Paris Hilton), socialites were classy, elegant and trendy all at the same time. Well, here’s how you can capture some of that history and still be a knock-out in your own era with socialite style.

First, I found this over the top exaggerated wide leg, courtesy of Zara (purchase here). The Katherine Hepburn esque feel of the pants really gives an ode to a classic look. Wide Legs have made a huge comeback and when paired with a cute pair of booties, you can make a definite fashion statement. I opted for these by 2B Stores (purchase here). This year, it’s all about layering and we captured this trend by not only adding a leather jacket, like this one from Forever21 (purchase here), but by also adding a chic faux shearling vest  by Aeropostale (purchase here). Simply add the vest on top of the jacket, and you’ve got yourself a new cover piece. Oh…and don’t forget a cute scarf. We added this one by Vince Camuto to bring in warmth (purchase here). No classy lady should go without a classy watch and earrings. This watch by Nixon has us swooning (purchase here) and the earrings from ASOS are no different (purchase here)! And of course, you need a bag. Patent Leather is making a come back, so we decided to go with this one from Wallis Fashion (purchase here).

Alright Socialites, like Justin brought Sexy Back, lets bring classy sophistication back to to socialite style. Of course, on a budget! Until then…Happy Findings!
